Volunteer Opportunities

FleurEx simply would not be possible without the small army of volunteers who give up their time to make the magic happen, so any assistance you can offer would be greatly appreciated

Roll your sleeves up and get involved...

If you have ever organised an event, you will know that there’s an awful lot that goes on behind the scenes, and FleurEx is no different!  There are all kinds of jobs to be done, from conditioning and sorting flowers, assisting designers with demonstration and workshop preparations, helping attendees with queries and of course there are lots of floors to be swept and bins to be emptied!

What would it entail?

FleurEx has a wide range of jobs that need filling, some duties are exciting, such as assisting with demonstrations, but there are plenty of other tasks equally as important which need to be done for the smooth running of the show.

Some tasks would include checking tickets for entry to workshops, assisting attendees with navigating the show, conditioning and sorting flowers, or transporting materials through the venue ready for events.  Oh and yes, we do need help with mundane jobs such as tidying up as we go along and on completion of the show.

Working at FleurEx gives you the opportunity to see the background work that goes into running such a big event, and can be a very valuable experience.

Can anyone get involved?

Volunteers must be members of the British Florist Association or Institute of  Professional Florists, we also welcome students from our member colleges and training schools.

Is there anything I should know?

  • We ask that you wear black trousers –  You’ll be given the use of a BFA polo shirt on arrival at the show.

  • Comfy shoes are essential - there will be lots of walking involved in whatever tasks you're assigned.
  • Although we can't allow volunteers to pick and choose their assigned tasks, we will work as a team to ensure everyone has an enjoyable experience and does a range of activities wherever possible.
  • Volunteering at industry events is not only a valuable learning opportunity, it looks great on your CV and it's excellent CPD, which can be used towards the CPD requirement of IPF membership.
  • We always try to allow volunteers to have some free time to enjoy the show too!

I’m interested, who do I contact?

If you’d like to get involved and help make FleurEx the fabulous show that it is, please contact the BFA Volunteer Coordinator, Kathryn, by emailing volunteers@britishfloristassociation.org

We look forward to hearing from you!
